Coach Chad's (8th grade )wife inducted into the Gibbs H.S. Hall of Fame:
MARIA WILLIAMS:
Maria Teal also known as the "Riflelady" was an outstanding athlete for Gibbs High School. Maria was a Two-Time first team Class 3A All-State player. Key performer in 1986, when Gibbs (33-1) won the Class 3A State title. Teal, a junior averaged 20.5 points and 13 rebounds. Finished with a school record 2,003 career points. Helped the Gladiators to a 60-3 record in her final 2 seasons.  St. Petersburg Times Player of the Year in 1987. She was also known for her high flying acrobatic skills on the volleyball court as well. After high school she signed with Florida Community College- Jacksonville for two years wher she was an Junior College All- American. She obtained her AA degree and transferred to Western Kentucky University , but after one season , she transferred to Barry University in Miami, FL.  Teal played her senior season at Barry, where she became an NCAA Division II All American and Sunshine State Conference Player of the year.  She averaged 21.8 points and 13.7 rebounds per game, in leading Barry to a 26-4 mark and a sweet 16 appearance at the NCAA Division II Tournament.  She set an NCAA Division II record (that still stands) on Feb. 13th, 1991 (17 straight made field goals against Florida Southern). Her 654 points and 410 rebounds remain school single- season records and her rebounds remain an SSC record. Teal stated  "I thank God for blessing me with the talent of playing basketball because it has taken me all over the world and it paid for something that no one can ever take from me an education".  "TO GOD BE THE GLORY"

 Save the date. Saturday April 28th. 6th Annual Breakin' & Ballin', a Hip Hop event that will include a 3 on 3 basketball tournament as the highlight of the event complete with a Slam Dunk Contest and a Three point Contest. Professional rapper Pro with Reach Records and the 116 Clique will be performing live in concert. Break dancers from the Tampa Bay area will also perform and will teach teenagers their moves in-between games. 
 In order to make this event a success we will need lots of support. Please email tjwilson727@msn.com if you are interested in volunteering for any of the following: First Impressions Team to welcome participants, referees, time keepers, crowd control monitoring, Po concert and sales table.

Noah Thorp & Julian Cooney decided to confess their faith publicly. Coach Tony had the honor of baptizing the two of them at Calvary Baptist church. We are so proud of the two of them!!!

Exciting News..... CBC/Team Under Pressure will be hosting a couple YBOA & AAU tournaments in 2012. Mark your calenders for May 11-13th AAU State & May 18-20th for the Clearwater Classic. This will be a great fundraiser for all our teams. We will need many volunteers to make this a success.
